Grace or Works

We thank all those who continue to write to us and also to patronize the Biblical Expositor website www.Bible4U.Info. Some of you have been sending BibExp to hundreds of your friends, and we are thankful to you. Kindly keep spreading the goodies to all and sundry. Please also remember that the site offers many other free downloads, including Ebooks and MP3 songs. We wish to see BibExp going to at least 10,000 in 2007, as against the present figure of 5000.

For two years I spent a portion of my life in front of a denominational church. And all this time I was amazed to see the eagerness with which people used to visit it as early as 5 AM.

Whether it be cold or hot, or even raining cats and dogs, they were there. Both young and old ! It was amazing to see those old women in their nineties ambling speedily to reach in time. Most conservative, bible-believing, gospel-preaching churches are never able to bring people to church in this manner, and many ask why. And there is a small trade-secret. Just remove “grace” from salvation, and people will rise up even from their graves to come to the church.

It has been noticed in the last 2000 years that as long as the “Grace Alone” provision for salvation is mentioned, people begin taking church casually. Just add works to it, and see even the most reluctant agnostic electrified. Thus many among the conservatives have been arguing for the last four to five decades that conservative Christians should stop emphasizing “grace”. There have been attempts in many conservative camps at least to modify the doctrine of grace in such a way that works seem to be compulsory for salvation. All this is perversion.

Salvation is a free gift of God by grace through faith. When God Himself does not hide this, we are not wiser in contradicting Him. So let us keep preaching about the free gift of salvation..
